Images of the surface underneath the mouse are focussed onto the sensor using a suitable lens. The differences between subsequent images are analyzed in order to determine what, if any, movement has occurred.LEDis controlled by the optical sensor. The light from the LED is directed onto the surface using a light-guide which is often contained within the same assembly as the lens.MCUA microprocessor (MCU) is used to control the complete mouse system. The MCU is used to configure the optical sensor and to read data from it. The data is encoded and then sent handled by the MCU.
